Glengoyne 25YO comes out on top at this year's Asian Spirits Masters

Posted on 10 Aug 2015 by Glengoyne Distillery

Glengoyne 25 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky has achieved the highest accolade, a Master award at the esteemed Asian Spirits Masters 2015 in the Scotch Whisky Single Malt category.

Organised by The Spirits Business, The Asian Spirits Masters specifically represents and honours products available in the burgeoning Asian market. The judges, which included leading drinks writers, on trade and spirits specialists, evaluated the entries in a blind tasting.

Commenting on the top award, Iain Weir, Marketing Director for Ian Macleod Distillers, said: “We are extremely proud that our exquisite Glengoyne 25YO has received a Master Award as it is truly a special malt. Asia is a region that is certainly attracting a great deal of interest from both consumers and producers alike so it’s great to be recognised in this important market.”

Glengoyne 25YO fought off stiff competition in its category and the judges described it as a “true gem” and praised the malt for “its good balance of complexity on the nose, a lovely palate and a long finish”.

The malt, which was released last year, is presented in a heavy bespoke bottle and outer box. The bottle features a fine metal stopper, crafted cartouche and delicately branded neck tag and is attractively displayed in an oak box interior, which includes an engraved plinth. The elegant exterior has a refined feather pattern subtly varnished on the pack.

Now in its third year, the competition was held in London and follows the success of The Sprits Masters, which draws in entries from across the world.

Glengoyne Distillery is owned by one of Scotland’s leading independent, family-owned distillers, Ian Macleod Distillers. It is highly regarded as Scotland’s most beautiful distillery. Glengoyne, being uncompromising in its pursuit of excellence, runs its stills slower than any other distillery in order to create the rich, bold flavours for which the brand is renowned. The Glengoyne Highland Single Malt range is matured in the finest sherry casks from within its traditional warehouses.
