Only a limited number of casks will be made available each year. If you are an individual, club, society,
or group of friends that enjoy great whisky, the Glengoyne Cask Offer will let you create your own, utterly
unique dram, keeping you involved from cask selection to bottling.
There will be two fillings per year, one in Spring and one in Autumn. We have put together the most extensive range of wood on offer anywhere. You can specify the size and age of the cask as well as the previous occupant and you can mature your cask for as long as you like, putting you in charge of the end flavour. Payment will come in two simple stages. Initially you pay for the cask, the spirit and ten years of insurance and warehouse rental. When you decide your cask has reached maturity you will pay for bottling and labelling, plus a sizeable chunk in Excise Duty. We will bottle your whisky at a time of your choosing, with a label that you approve. Why Choose Glengoyne? Glengoyne is one of the leading premium malt whiskies in the world. An award winning malt, it's the product of remarkable ingredients, an unconventional process, world class wood and the pride and passion of its people. We use un-smoked, air-dried barley to ensure the full flavour of malted barley comes across, untainted by peat smoke. 
ProcessWe distil slower than any other whisky distillery in the world. This does not refer to productivity problems; rather, it is the conscious decision to prolong contact between spirit and copper, resulting in abnormally high ester levels, delivering the upfront fruitiness in our Glengoyne house style. This is a costly way to make whisky, but we believe it is money well spent. Wood Our unique relationships within the industry mean we can source the finest sherry wood known to man. We oversee the selection and felling of oak trees in the celtic Spanish north of Galicia, Asturias and Cantabria. The oak is quarter sawn, dried in the sun for two years in Jerez, and then made into casks by large, hairy men. Finally, the casks are seasoned with dry Oloroso for around two years, before being shipped to Glengoyne to be filled with our wondrous spirit. For reasons only partly understood, our spirit matures quite quickly, meaning you may not have to keep your hands off your cask for quite as long as you think. People When people come to Glengoyne they tend to stay. We like that. The average length of service in our eight man production team is 24 years and counting. These are whisky people, but, more than that, they are Glengoyne people. They have a genuine passion for what they do. As our Stillman, Duncan McNicoll, says "It's anything but 'just a job'. Frankly, we are spoiling you. Visit Your Cask Cask Owners are welcome, indeed encouraged, to visit their cask as it matures. Our Head Warehouseman will draw samples on your cask's birthday and retain them for your perusal. You are welcome to bring your cask a present or a cake, but Health and Safety regulations forbid the lighting of candles in our warehouses. Having seen your cask in situ, now retire to The Glengoyne Sample Room to appraise your cask's progress. Any unconsumed samples will be supplied with your cased goods after maturation. So you've chosen your cask, visited it, watched it mature, sampled it, waited, visited again, sampled again; now, and only now are you ready to bottle.
